I promised pictures from the first week but have been having technical difficulties uploading pictures.  I'll post pictures as soon as I can!

Another fantastic day!  The students continue to amaze me with the knowledge and abilities they already possess.  With their continuing hard work we will be able to accomplish so much this year!  The students are beginning to feel more comfortable in the classroom as about 5 students fell asleep during quiet rest time and 2 students broke into song as they were working today.  :)   I have been taking pictures throughout the week and will post them on Friday.  Please feel free to share this website with any friends or family who might enjoy watching the childrens' progress.
Dinner discussion:  What are rules that we need to follow in the classroom?  Use the "Rules for a Happy Day" sheet went home yesterday to spark the conversation.

We had a wonderful day today and it was a pleasure to get to know the children better!  Although few of the children knew each other before coming into the classroom, I already saw friendships budding between the children!  We spent the day talking about classroom rules and expectations, learning procedures, and took tours of the classroom and school.  I read a story called The Kissing Hand, by Audrey Penn.  It is about a little raccoon who is scared and nervous for his first day of school.  To make him feel better, his parents give him a kiss on his left palm and remind him that the kiss will stay with him throughout the day so he shouldn't be sad.  We will be doing more activities with the story throughout the week.
Dinner discussion:  How is Mrs. Fox's class at Creek View different than preschool?  Please feel free to blog back to respond!

    Author

My plan is for this blog to have many authors- each child in the class!  The children will take turns being daily news reporters and photographers.  They will post their work during Center Time and at the end of the day.  My hope is that families will use these posts to talk about school with their children and help develop the important connection between home and school.  I encourage parents and children to respond to the blog or Dinner Discussions by adding a comment or emailing me.  Have fun and I hope this opens a window into our world at Creek View!
