We watched a play this morning and it was funny and we liked it.  The play was about a shrew and five guys.  We have been learning about fish, a guinea pig and frogs.  So far, Aidan likes pet frogs the best and Sai likes pet guinea pigs the best.  A cat and a dog are going to visit us, too.  Sai wants a visit from a bear and a snake but Aidan thinks they are too wild.   We learned about coins and money and now we are done learning about them.  We have new centers today and we can make a kite, play Bingo, make math puzzles, paint and maybe some other things.  We were learning about flowers and made flowers in a vase in Art.

Gavin and Mikey worked very hard on their Blog on Friday but their writing is still sitting on the desktop in the classroom.  We will hopefully be able to post their work when we get back to school on Monday.

Friday was a very fun day!   The students walked into the classroom and there was a pile of gold on their desks!  We spent the morning discussing, writing, and creating an art project about what they would do with the money.  We worked in our Social Studies Personal Finance standards as we talked about being able to save, spend, or share the money.

In math we worked with coins.  Students were given a certain amount of coins and had to count how much money they had.  Working with coins is very fun for the students and they have enjoyed bringing in money from all around the world.  If you have any coins or paper money from a different country and feel comfortable sending it in, the students would love to see it and we would take good care of it. : )

Have a wonderful weekend!  ~Mrs. Fox

Kelsey's mom took this picture of Kelsey's writing on the refrigerator- thanks for sharing!
I had a little bit of snow at my house but not enough to play in.  Did you have snow at your house?

My plan is for this blog to have many authors- each child in the class!  The children will take turns being daily news reporters and photographers.  They will post their work during Center Time and at the end of the day.  My hope is that families will use these posts to talk about school with their children and help develop the important connection between home and school.  I encourage parents and children to respond to the blog or Dinner Discussions by adding a comment or emailing me.  Have fun and I hope this opens a window into our world at Creek View!
